Remember earlier when I mentioned being a failed songwriter and aspiring rockstar?
During the second lockdown in 2021, I formed a one man band called Face Without Eyes. Aspiring to sound like all the 90s alternative rock bands I adore so much, I began writing a lot of songs inspired by the intense insomnia and restlessness I experienced during Summer 2021.
Recorded on an acoustic guitar and produced entirely in my Mum’s spare room on Garageband, my first (and to date, only) EP is called ‘Tastes Like Sleep’. I labelled it ‘Bedroom Grunge’ and distributed it on Bandcamp. Not many people know about this project because at the time I was a hermit and didn’t do much to promote it. I’m not a particularly polished guitarist or singer, but I’m still proud of some of these songs and hope one day I get the chance to record more.
I also released a one-off single, ‘Cartoon Man’ that same year. It’s basically my attempt to write ‘A.M. 180’ by Grandaddy whilst also using the new plug-in keyboard I bought. It’s fun.
