On Saturday evening, I got to take the stage for my first ever solo show, ‘This Must Be the Place’… and it was incredible.
Myself and the hugely talented Connor Read spent months promoting the show and selling tickets, constantly fighting the anxiety that we’d play to an empty room or that the show wouldn’t come together in time. But on Saturday 29th June, it all came together in front of a wonderful audience.
After an opening spot from our good friend Psychic Stu, Connor went up first, doing 30 minutes of new material and old favourites to a very warm room. Then, it was my turn, and I could not have asked for a lovelier crowd to hear the show for the first time. From the moment I came onstage to the final seconds (containing a callback I’ve been excited to perform for months), it was just an incredible, emotional experience that I won’t forget in a hurry.
